This class explores fashion design through creation. We begin with exploring the history of clothing s and specifically pay attention to the changes in material, colour the practicality of clothing and costume in our time. .
Using historic pictures and learning about local fashion designers will guide the first couple days of imagining and organizing the project ahead. This practical approach will help to facilitate a comfortable and organic understanding of technical terms and tools related to fashion design. Students will be fully emersed in the development of their creation and address matters of procurement, environmental impact, accessibility to new and old technologies and other real-world difficulties the industry is inevitably always faced with, hence encouraging inspiration with every challenge. Participants will be placed in teams midway through the project to amplify technical communication while sticking to artistic credibility. Teams will develop flats, technical drawings, prototypes and, in the end, renditions of their design.
The fun filled finale will certainly expose participants to all the aspects of fashion design, the extensive jobs and rolls the industry offers. They will learn the importance of clients and public needs and opinions, giving them learning opportunities with regards to fitting, sales, merchandising, branding and most importantly, the pride of artistic responsibility.
